Day 01: Start your journey in the morning from Bangalore to Chikkamagaluru. En route, visit:
Shravanabelagola (approx. 145 km / 2.5 hrs drive) - Shravanabelagola, one of the most-visited Jain pilgrimage destinations in South India, is a popular getaway from Bengaluru. It is renowned for its towering 57-foot statue of Bahubali — the world’s tallest monolithic stone statue, intricately carved from a single block of granite.
Halebedu (approx. 80 km / 1.5 hrs drive) - Located in Halebedu, the Hoysaleshwara Temple is a stunning 12th-century Hoysala marvel that is sure to leave you spellbound. This twin-shrined structure is believed to be the largest Shiva temple built by the Hoysalas. Notably, it features two grand Nandi statues, each positioned in front of the twin sanctums.
Note: The Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas, including the famed Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebidu, and Somanathapura, have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, marking the 42nd UNESCO World Heritage Site in India.
Proceed to Chikkamagaluru (approx. 35 km). Arrive at the resort in the evening, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 02: Post breakfast, explore local sightseeing:
Mullayanagiri - At 6,317 feet, Mullayanagiri is Karnataka’s highest peak, loved for its cool climate and panoramic views. A 500-step climb leads to a summit with a Shiva temple and sweeping vistas.
Datta Peetha (Bababudan Giri) - Inam Dattatreya Peetha (Bababudangiri), Karnataka’s second-highest peak, offers scenic drives and stunning views. Jeeps from the parking area take you to Manikyadhara Falls and nearby spots.
Jhari Falls (also known as Buttermilk Falls) - Also called Buttermilk Falls, this popular Chikkamagaluru spot is often paired with Mullayanagiri and Bababudangiri. A 3–4 km jeep ride on rough terrain gets you there from the main road.
Return to the resort for leisure activities, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 03: After breakfast, visit:
Deviramma Temple - Legend says Goddess Chamundeshwari, after defeating the demon Mahishasura, came to this hill to calm her rage—giving it the name Deviramma Betta, or 'Hill of the Goddess.
Kalatthagiri Falls - Legend says sage Agasthya once stayed at Kallathigiri Falls, making it a sacred spot. The site also houses the ancient Veerabhadra Temple from the Vijayanagara era.
Hebbe Falls - Hebbe Falls, a scenic two-tiered waterfall near Kemmangundi, is popular with tourists. Getting there involves a jeep ride and a short trek, making it a fun adventure.
Return to the resort, and enjoy leisure time, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 04: After breakfast, check out from the resort. On the way back to Bangalore, visit:
- Belur Chennakeshava Temple - The 12th-century Chennakeshava Temple in Belur, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is a Hoysala gem known for its stunning craftsmanship. A guide is recommended to explore its rich details and history.
Proceed to Bangalore with beautiful memories of Chikkamagaluru.
