Day 01: Start your journey in the morning from Bangalore to Chikkamagaluru. En route, visit:
Shravanabelagola (approx. 145 km / 2.5 hrs drive) - A popular Jain pilgrimage site near Bengaluru, is known for its 57-foot-tall statue of Bahubali, the world’s tallest monolithic stone statue, carved from a single granite block.
Halebedu (approx. 80 km / 1.5 hours drive) - Located in Halebidu, the 12th-century Hoysaleshwara Temple is a stunning Hoysala creation, renowned for its intricate design and twin shrines, which are guarded by two grand Nandi statues.
Note: The Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas, including the famed Hoysala temples of Belur, Halebidu, and Somanathapura, have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, marking the 42nd UNESCO World Heritage Site in India.
Proceed to Chikkamagaluru (approx. 35 km). Arrive at the resort in the evening, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 02: Post breakfast, explore local sightseeing:
Mullayanagiri - At 6,317 feet, Mullayanagiri is Karnataka’s highest peak, offering stunning views and cool weather. A short 500-step climb leads to a peaceful Shiva temple at the summit.
Datta Peetha (Bababudan Giri) - Inam Dattatreya Peetha (Bababudangiri), Karnataka’s second-highest peak, is known for its scenic drive and panoramic hilltop views. Jeeps from the parking area take you to Manikyadhara Falls and nearby spots.
Jhari Falls (Buttermilk Falls) - Commonly known as Buttermilk Falls, this is one of Chikkamagaluru’s most popular waterfalls, often visited along with Mullayanagiri and Bababudangiri. Reaching it involves a fun 3–4 km jeep ride on rugged, muddy trails after parking on the main road.
Return to the resort for leisure activities, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 03: After breakfast, check out from the resort. On the way back to Bangalore, visit:
- Belur Chennakeshava Temple - The 12th-century Chennakeshava Temple in Belur is a must-visit Hoysala marvel dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Known for its intricate craftsmanship, it took over a century to build. A local guide is recommended to appreciate its history and details.
Proceed to Bangalore with beautiful memories of Chikkamagaluru.
